Varying Degrees of Domestic Violence
There are two recognized levels of criminal domestic violence: "regular" domestic violence and "aggravated" domestic violence. Domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature is usually charged when there is at least one aggravating factor. A conviction will result in a minimum of one year in prison and a maximum of 10.
Regular domestic violence charges are a magistrate court offense and could result in a maximum of 30 days in jail or a fine plus domestic abuse counseling.
We fight false charges by trying cases. Matt Bodman tries or negotiates cases in court nearly every day.
